I grew up in Dipton and moved to Burnhope in 1973. My Grandaughter attends Burnhope Primary School and when the position of School Governor was advertised, I was immediately interested and believed I could offer the time and life experience to support the staff, pupils and parents of our village school. I completed my nurse training in 1970 and during my career, spanning over 47 years, I worked at Shotley Bridge General Hospital on the children’s ward and then became a Practice Nurse in primary care, specialising in family planning and sexual health, diabetes, asthma and cardio-vascular disease. Since retiring from nursing, I have enjoyed travelling, reading, keeping fit and spending time with my family.
