I am thrilled to be joining the governing body of Burnhope Primary School. As a County Councillor for the area, Burnhope and its residents are very important to me. As well as this, as a Mam with two young children I have a real interest in young people and see this as a great opportunity to work with the wider team to play a part in giving the children at the school as good a start in life as possible.
I sit on the Corporate Parenting panel and on scrutiny committees for Children and Young People’s Services and Safer and Stronger Communities, and see all of these as being very helpful to the role as school governor.
I live outside the village but attend Burnhope Parish Council as an observer and spend a lot of time in the village. I have been volunteering in school for a number of months which has been a very worth while experience.
